Centring
Laser centring of shafts and belt drives
Laser centring of shafts
New or old equipment with torque transmitted through a coupling requires proper centring of shafts. Properly centred – centred in axial and parallel directions.
Incorrect alignment of machine shafts can have a negative impact on both the machine and the company as a whole:
- Increased friction in the assemblies, resulting in higher electrical losses
- Premature wear of bearings or sealing elements
- Premature wear of the shaft or coupling
- Excessive penetration of lubricants through seals
- Breakage of fasteners at the coupling or at the base of the unit
- Increased vibration and sound
When you buy a new machine or repair an old one, make sure the shafts are aligned before you start working and your machine will last longer.
Laser centring of pulleys
One of the most common causes of unplanned stoppages in belt-driven machines is misalignment of the pulley axes.
Correct alignment of the pulley axles and the right tensioning of the belts can help you:
- Extend bearing life
- Reduce machine downtime – Increase efficiency and productivity
- Reduce wear on pulleys and belts
- Reduce friction between elements thus reducing energy costs
- Reduce sound and vibration
- Reduce the cost of replacing power transmission elements
When replacing belts or pulleys on the machine, make sure that the pulley axes are correctly centred and that the belts are properly tensioned.
We know that centring equipment and material kits can be very expensive and require experienced technicians to carry out the work. We have the equipment and expertise to perform laser centring of shafts and pulleys, so we are ready to help you when you need us.
